Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance for Training and Testing

Acceptance for training and testing is subject to these Terms and Conditions and to any correspondence issued by Bikewise Motorcycle Training Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (referred to throughout these Terms and Conditions as “we”, “us”, “our” or “Bikewise”).

2. Conditions of Acceptance

Acceptance for training and testing is conditional upon the following:

Payment:
Payment of the prescribed course and/or test fee must be made either in part, as a deposit, or in full, at the time and by the method directed by us.

For all courses:
You must produce a signed and valid UK driving licence.

If you hold the old-style paper-only driving licence, you must also provide a valid, in-date passport as photographic identification for your DVSA test.

Speak and understand English and the highway code to a good level.

Ideally, you should wear motorcycle clothing, or in any case, you MUST wear sturdy trousers and ankle protection boots. We have a range of conventional sized loan

helmets/jackets/gloves but if you feel you may be outside those sizes please ring the office for details.

For DVSA test courses:
You must produce a valid CBT certificate. This applies to a first motorcycle test only and is not required for licence upgrades.

You must also hold a valid Motorcycle Theory Test pass certificate for all motorcycle tests, including licence upgrades by accelerated access.

Licence upgrades by progressive access, where there is a two-year waiting period between upgrades, do not require you to repeat the Motorcycle Theory Test.

Any motorcycle or moped supplied by the pupil must comply with all applicable legal requirements.

The maintenance, condition and reliability of the pupil’s own motorcycle or moped are the pupil’s sole responsibility.

It is the pupil’s responsibility to ensure that all required documents are valid, correct and available for examination by the DVSA Examiner on the day of the test.

3. Medical Conditions, Drugs and Medication

You must make full disclosure of any medical condition and any drugs or medication,

whether prescribed or otherwise, that you are taking which could impair your ability to ride safely.

We reserve the right to terminate any training or testing session immediately and without refund if the instructor suspects that any legal or illegal substance has been consumed and, in the instructor’s opinion, this may have a detrimental effect on safety.

4. Training and Testing Arrangements

Training and testing arranged with and conducted by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will take place at the date, time and location specified.

5. Payments and Cancellations

Full payment must be made at the time of booking.

No refunds will be made for cancellations made within 5 working days of a CBT / 10 working days of a DAS, unless the cancellation is due to illness and a doctor’s certificate is provided.

In the event of a cancellation due to another unavoidable circumstance, any refund will be at the discretion of the company.

6. Non-Attendance

Failure to attend at the prescribed time, date and location will be deemed to constitute a cancellation.

7. Compulsory Basic Training (CBT)

A Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) course can often be completed on the day booked. However, additional training may sometimes be required for a suitable and safe standard to be achieved.

If, by the end of Element C, the instructor considers that the student has not reached a

sufficient and safe standard to undertake the road ride, the instructor will explain this to the student.

The student will then finish for the day and will need to rebook at a later date to complete a CBT Continuation Course. An additional charge will apply.

Similarly, if the student begins the road ride but the instructor considers it necessary to stop the ride for safety reasons, the student will return to the training site and finish for the day.

The student will then need to rebook a CBT Continuation Course at a later date. An additional charge will apply.

The decision to stop CBT training at any stage for safety reasons is at the sole discretion of the instructor. Where training is stopped for safety reasons, no refund will be due and any further training will only be offered at our discretion.

8. Test Training, Further Training and Re-Tests

Where further training and/or a further test is required, attendance must be arranged to suit the date, time and location provided by the DVSA, following any applicable statutory waiting period.

Additional charges will apply for any required re-testing.

If a test is cancelled by the DVSA for any reason other than weather, compensation may be claimed directly from the DVSA. This may include the cost of the ride to the test and loss of income for half a day, subject to the DVSA’s applicable rules and eligibility requirements.

Where a test is cancelled due to weather, the DVSA does not pay compensation for the ride to the test. In these circumstances, an additional fee of 50% of the cost of the rebooked ride to the test will apply.

9. Pupil-Supplied Equipment and Vision Requirements

If you supply your own equipment, including your own motorcycle, it is your responsibility to ensure that it complies with all current legal and safety requirements and is suitable for use during training.

Training will not take place if any equipment does not comply with the required standards, and no refund will be given.

If you require corrective vision, you must bring your glasses or contact lenses with you. You will be required to read a vehicle number plate from a distance of 20 metres.

Failure to meet the required eyesight standard will mean that your training cannot continue and you will forfeit any monies paid.

10. Changes to Appointments

We reserve the right to cancel, amend or rearrange the date, time or location of any appointment, providing reasonable notice wherever possible and without unreasonable delay.

11. Riding Standards

We reserve the right to determine riding standards in all respects and to decide whether a candidate is suitable to be submitted for testing.

Such decisions and criteria will be made in accordance with applicable regulations and guidance issued by the DVSA.

12. Refund in Place of Training or Testing

We reserve the right, at our discretion, to refund the course fee in full instead of providing training and/or testing.

13. Termination of Training

We reserve the right to terminate training without refund if a client rides in a dangerous or negligent manner or behaves in an abusive, threatening or otherwise unacceptable manner towards any person.

14. Changes to These Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right to amend or vary these Terms and Conditions without prior notice.

A copy of the current Terms and Conditions will be provided in response to each booking made.

15. Prices and Quotations

We reserve the right to change our prices at any time and without prior notice. Any quotation for training is valid for a period of 14 days from the date of issue.
